WILDERNESS TRAILS RANCH COLORADO TO BOOK Tel:01798 865946
This beautiful ranch is located 35 miles northeast of Durango in the incredible San Juan Mountains of south-western Colorado. The ranch borders on the magnificent Piedra Wilderness Area, which includes secluded meadows, high mountain vistas and vast mountain forests covering thousands of acres. They offer plenty of riding variety: Riding instruction, half and all day trail rides, cattle work, a natural horsemanship clinic, arena work, a gymkhana and private lessons. This ranch breeds Morgan horses.
The well-appointed, rustic cabins are nestled amongst pines, fir, spruce and aspen trees. Two bedroom, two bathroom Ponderosa cabins are ideal for families of 4-5 with a king or queen bed in one room and two singles in the adjoining room. All private baths have shower/tub combinations. The newest addition is the Premiere Ponderosa with vaulted ceilings, gas log fireplace, lovely country furnishings and extra-comfy baths.
Their Chef prepares a broad menu each week. Breakfasts are to order. Lunch buffets feature plenty of fruits and salads. Dinners range from steak and fish cookouts, to prime rib, turkey, and the gourmet Thursday night feast. They also own the adjacent cattle grazing permit that adjoins the ranch on the National Forest which gives you even more land to ride over. This ranch can also be classified as a working cattle operation with 140 pair of cows and bulls. Guests will help move the cattle in the National Forest and have opportunities to help with branding, fence repair and packing salt and other supplies in. They have found that this is often the highlight of guests' stay at the ranch.
They offer a myriad of activities including: horseback riding (with instructions), hiking, fishing, water skiing, four-wheel drive trips, Mesa Verde tour, river rafting, dance lessons, hay ride, campfire sing-along, live music and dancing plus massage therapy. Relax by the 72-foot heated swimming pool, soak in the hot tub, or simply enjoy sitting on the front porch watching the day fade into a magnificent star-filled night.
